Mirza Rahman
Mirza I. Rahman, MD, MPH, FAAFP, FACPM. Dr. Mirza Rahman is the Vice President & Chief Safety Officer at Organon, a global healthcare company. He is responsible for leading and setting the broad strategic direction for pharmacovigilance for this multinational company, which has annual revenue in excess of $6 billion. In addition, Dr. Rahman serves as the President of the American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM) and is a Co-Founder and President of the Guyanese Diaspora Charity, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on helping to improve the lives of Guyanese, both in Guyana and in America. Dr. Rahman also serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Epidemiology, Department of Epidemiology, Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University. In addition, for the past two years, he has served as a voluntary faculty member at the School of Pharmacy in the College of Medical Sciences at the University of Guyana. Dr. Rahman has also served as a faculty member for the ACPM Board Review course since 2008, lecturing on Health Services Management and Health Economics & Outcomes Research. Prior to practicing pharmaceutical medicine, Dr. Rahman was an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Family Medicine, Epidemiology & Biostatistics, and the Ireland Cancer Research Center at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. There he taught and precepted Family Medicine Residents and co-developed a Graduate course on Cancer Epidemiology. Preceding this, he served as the Medical Director of the Tri-Community Health Center in NY. Dr. Rahman completed his General Preventive Medicine & Public Health Residency along with his Family Medicine Residency at the Stony Brook University School of Medicine. He also completed the Advanced Management Program at the Columbia Business School, earned his Master of Public Health degree from the Columbia University School of Public Health, his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Stony Brook University School of Medicine, and his Bachelor of Science degree from the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education at the City College of the City University of New York. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Preventive Medicine, and the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. Dr. Rahman has also received multiple awards from the ACPM, the AMA, the AAFP, Merck, J&J, Otsuka, and Organon.
