The prevalence of neurodegenerative disease in the United States is on the rise with approximately 6.7 million people living with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Research indicates identification and management of modifiable risk factors among patients could potentially prevent or delay approximately 40% of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia cases. Therefore, this course is designed for preventive medicine physicians, as well as general healthcare physicians and public health professionals, to apply evidence-based tools and interventions to identify and manage select modifiable risk factors for dementia including obesity, nutrition, physical activity, diabetes and sleep.
